The 525th anniversary of the University of Aberdeen in 2020 gave the Aberdeen family an opportunity to reflect on our past and to celebrate the many contributions our University has made to the world around us.
The 525 Alumni of Achievement, launched that year, was one such project, which was designed to recognise the work of our graduates over the centuries and celebrate those who have made greatest impact.
Thanks to the incredible commitment of our alumni, over a thousand nominations were received, and eight hundred biographies have been written and scored. This has provided the University with an extensive, valuable resource and we are hugely grateful to all those who helped enable the creation of this library of our most eminent alumni.
The volume and breadth of the submissions received does not lend itself to a single stand-alone publication so instead we will be making full use of as many stories as possible of those alumni whose impact has been most greatly felt both locally and globally, and who embody the values of our University. We look forward to sharing these with you over the coming months and years.
We hope you will enjoy learning more about your fellow alumni, past and present, as our plans for a range of communication campaigns unfold. We will also be in touch separately with those who submitted nominations in the coming months.
